Amo Pesadilla was a recognised expert on the nature of death and held, as of 749 BC, the position of Undertaker of Il Aluk. His expertise led to a commission from Colonel Veneno the Kargat to create the Caskets of the Damned. Colonel Veneno also gave Amo the brass fittings for the coffin that were (unknown to Amo) forged of magical metals by Axrock, providing the caskets with necromantic properties.[1] 
It may be supposed that he was also a necromancer. Lending some support to this speculation is the fact that he remained in his post for at least 50 years.
