In 737 BC, as part of the events that brought about the second verse of Hyskosa Hexad, adventurers discovered the murders, grave robberies and other perverse activities of Meredoth and his Obedient Dead lebendtod, the Graben Family. In response, the adventurers laid siege to Graben Manor and Todstein. The manor was put to the torch, much of the Graben family was killed, and even the prideful Meredoth was slain.[1] A great and horrible storm, titled simply the Big Storm of '37, soon followed in the wake of Meredoth's demise.[2]
Reactions
Although Colin Graben survived the attack and Meredoth's clone has animated[1], the entire debacle was very much a rude awakening to the formerly complacent necromancer and his minions. The necromancer and his undead have become more subtle in their grave robberies and murders, weaving several layers of deception to cover their tracks. Meredoth has extended his lebendtod spy network to all of the Grabenite communities to more proactively watch for danger.[3] The Graben lebendtod have also altered how they inter the dead and ship them to Meredoth.[4]
Fortunately for the Grabens, Colin Graben was able to minimize the political fallout. Ever the effective propagandist and slanderer, Colin defamed the adventurers responsible as bandits and madmen in order to preserve the family's reputation.[1]
