The court poisoner is a Prestige Class presented in Gazetteer IV because of its association with Borcan politics (though there is no special requirement for the character to be Borcan to take levels in this class.) Court Poisoners become increasingly skilled in Poison Use and poison manufacture, allowing them to alter the traits of the poisons they make. These alterations include altered delivery methods, delaying onset, increasing duration, making the poison harder to detect, and increasing its Saving Throw difficulty class. In addition, they gain bonuses on Fortitude saves vs. Poison.[1]
Court poisoners, in Borca at the very least, tend to masquerade as apothecaries. The most infamous court poisoners are the League of Nine who mete out "justice" in Borca.[1] Members of the Church of the Spider Queen sometimes take levels in Court Poisoner.[2]
