The languages of Ravenloft are many and varied, which stems from the world's patchwork nature and enforces the insular and isolated nature of the place. Nevertheless, while there is no ubiquitous common tongue as in other worlds, there are certain languages that are more common than others: Balok, Darkonese, Mordentish, and Vaasi. Moreover, some languages may be derived from languages spoken on other worlds, if the DM wishes so for the sake of outsiders. Darkonese and Vaasi may bear resemblances to the common tongues of their respective mother-worlds Oerth and Faerun.
