Lord Jeremy Barthold is the husband of the late Lady Ann-Elizabeth Ward and the father of Lady Gowena Ward-Barthold. He proposed the arranged marriage as a way to salvage the honor and esteem of his family. Once Grandfather Ward passed, Barthold moved in quickly to put the Ward fortune under his control. As a husband he was emotionally cold and at times violently abusive towards Elizabeth-Ann and as a father he is also emotionally cold and repressive. Barthold plays the role of a dignified politician and family man, but this is mostly to preserve his own image.[1]
