Described by "S" as an "expert manipulator"[1], Helenè DuSuis is the member of the Council of Brilliance in charge of public institions (from poorhouses to the University of Dementlieu itself.[1] Helenè is notable in that she is the only member of the Council who is NOT an Obedient, for she feigns politeness to Dominic D'Honaire rather than openly act on her revulsion against him. Dominic has interpreted this cordial reaction as love, and he is quickly becoming smitten by her.[2]
As a Dread Possibility, Dominic may have called upon Helenè to flush out the Brain and his operatives. If this is the case, then the Brain seems not to have dominated her either, and may seek to use her against Dominic. For Helenè's own part, she might be walking a dangerously fine line of putting them against each other.[2]
