Saniset River

WIKISEED FROM CATALOGUE : River in Barovia, Hazlan and Nova Vaasa(Please edit freely, then remove this note and WIKISEED label) The Saniset River reaches across the Pommel of of southern Nova Vaasa and into Hazlan. Its tributaries are the Genspejle River ("Mirror River") and the Felgmøsge River ("Mistmoss River"). The source of the Genspejle is the eastern flanks of the Balinoks of south-east Barovia, from which its waters head east into Nova Vaasa, then bend south-east into Hazlan. The source of the Felgmøsge is the Mists that form Hazlan's southern frontier, from its waters head straight north. Summer melt waters from Mount Sawtooth in south-eastern Barovia feed a lake adjacent to Immol that is the source of the Saniset itself. The Saniset flows down from Immol, east by southeast across the Ensommark ("Lonely Plain"), between Toyalis and the estate of Hazlik, and skirts Sly-Var to the south. It maintains its east by southeast course, as it is first joined by ehe gently flowing 'Genspejle', which skirts Sly-Var to the east.

It continues across Hazlan and is joined from the south by the fast flowing waters of the Felgmøsge. It holds true to it's course, crosses the frontier into Nova Vaasa, and continues on to the sea.

he Saniset and the Genspejle have a common source in the Balinoks of south-east Barovia. The Genspejlehas as its headwaters the the eastern flanks, whereas the Saniset has as its headwaters the southern flanks. In particular,

Its tributaries are the Dnar River and the Trished River both from the Mountains of Misery of Darkon, the Vaughn Dnar River from Lake Kronov in Tepest, and the Borchava River and the Little Borchava River both from the nothingness of the Shadow Rift, which is to say that they have their phantom headwaters in the vanished land of Markovia. The Vaughn Dnar River is joined by the Trished River just east of Liara and bends to the southeast. The Borchava River is joined by the Little Borchava River well south of Liara and bends to the northeast. The Vaughn Dnar River is joined by the Borchava River halfway between Liara and Kantora and continues east by southeast, skirting Kantora to the north, and soon merges with the Dnar River, becoming the South Dnar River. The South Dnar drains into the Nocturnal Sea just north of Egertus at Guldstrand Beach via the Katsmund Canyon. The South Dnar is navigable, with difficulty owing to the swiftness of its current, by small ships between Kantora and the sea, with cargos being transferred to and from larger vessels at the beach.

The upper reaches of the Saniset are unnavigable, even on a small raft, given its swiftness, rapids, and gravel bars.

In Nova Vaasa’s far south, the Saniset emerges from Hazlan, just north of the forest the Nova Vaasans call the Skyggeskov, gently making its way into the sea.

The Saniset is navigable from Hazlan to the Nocturnal Sea.

Further south, a river known as the East Musarde emerges from the Mists and cuts across the Pommel. As its name suggests, locals believe this to be a continuation of the Musarde, which disappears into the Mists south of Hazlan. I am not quick to accept the word of peasants, but the Vistani I spoke with say the same.
