The estates of the van Hassen Family is an altered copy of the the estate they owned back on the Prime Material Plane prior to the formation of the Endless Road. The family and their servants are protected from the wrath of the Horseman while inside the van Hassen estate, but this fact also effectively makes the estate their prison.[1]
