Sundell[1] was a wealthy barony that formerly bordered Kislova on an unnamed outlander world prior to Kislova's slide into the Demiplane of Dread. During the Kislovan civil wars, Baron Janost Obour performed an ill-advised invasion that was repulsed. the Sundell counter-invasion left the Obour Family defeated, with Janost giving up his life in return for his allies and the Obour Family being spared. His son, Baron Mihael Obour ruled on behalf of Baron Peteo Casse, though Ilsabet Obour plotted revenge against Peto. Her revenge doomed Kislova, the Obour Family, and many of the Casse Family, the family that ruled Sundell. Her depredations caused Kislova to become a Ravenloft domain, leaving Sundell behind on the Prime Material Plane.
The Casse Family ruled from Shadow Castle. It was here that Ilsabet discovered the dark knowledge to create Alchemical Vampires.
