Alois Smythe

Alois Smythe was the father of Michael Smythe, and grandfather of Aleister Smythe. He may have been the first member of his family to join the Fraternity of Shadows. Although he failed to become an Umbra and so achieve immortality, he pressured his son, and later his grandson by said son, into joining. In contrast, he dismissed his daughter's chances of joining and discouraged her.

Alois died - presumably of natural causes - but not before witnessing the end of his direct line of descent under his own family name, due to the murder of Aleister Smythe's infant son.
