The python was the only animal of the Wildlands wise enough to refuse to loan King Crocodile his powers. When King Crocodile betrayed the other animals, the python cursed King Crocodile with a prophecy to be destroyed either by the hairless apes or by something King Crocodile dismissed as pathetic and beneath his notice. And with that, the python left with the rest of his snake kindred, leaving the Wildlands to be taken by the Mists.[1]
Curiously, since the python's departure, there have been no snakes within the Wildlands.[2]
