Shauten (unknown-735) was a mage and long-time colleague of Dr. Rudolph van Richten. He had an ulterior motive to helping Van Richten: becoming a lich himself. He betrayed Van Richten and planned to sacrifice the doctor in order to fuel his rise into undeath. However, Shauten turned away at the last moment in order to spare his former friend. Unfortunately, the failed ritual snuffed out the wizard's life.[1]
