Appearing the module From the Shadows Skeever was an imp and Azalin's familiar. He resided in Castle Avernus.[1] Later in Gazetteer I, Squalimous is listed as Azalin's familiar[2], implying that Skeever is now deceased.
Background
Conjured from the Lower Planes, Skeever was the familiar (or pet, as referred to by his master) of Azalin Rex[1] Azalin magically bestowed upon Skeever the ability to teleport himself to Azalin's tower room (room 79)[3] He could be quite chatty when taunting Azalin's prisoners, but in this way he could be tricked into revealing information. Azalin's Exterminator held some animosity to him[4]
Role in From the Shadows
Skeever is present when Azalin as left the PCs' heads disembodied but still alive. He taunts and verbally abuses the characters after his master leaves. The characters are able to to trick him into revealing information, and his blundering eventually frees one of the PC's bodies from the Zharakim.[4]
As the player characters attempt to escape Castle Avernus, Skeever reappears to harass and wear them down, though he does this by indirect methods rather than through straight combat. If he is killed, Azalin is significantly weakened later in the adventure.[5]
