Before the Great Upheaval, a region jutted from the eastern side of the main body of Pharazia, and within this region was an oasis.[1] However this region vanished following the Great Upheaval.[2]
This region was known as the Jazirat al-Qidiys ("Island of the Saint"). According to Pharazian legends, there was once a certain holy man who was driven out of Phiraz by the Confessors for practicing the heresy of mercy. Some of these legends say that the whole of the Jazirat al-Qidiys emerged from the sea where this holy man reached the shore. According to others, only the Oasis of the Dawn emerged from his arrival.[3]
