One of the Umbra, the highest-ranking members of the Fraternity of Shadows. He is also a leading professor and the president of the University of Dementlieu in Port-a-Lucine.[1] He holds doctoral degrees in both history and "arcane sciences".[2]
Biography
Lord Balfour lives in the President's Mansion on campus with his wife, Lady Cassilda de Casteelle, and their two sons. Though Lady Cassilda is five decades younger than Lord Balfour, she is a talented sorcerer and also a faculty member of the University of Dementlieu, presumably in the Department of Arcane Sciences. Lord Balfour also keeps an owl familiar, Lupzig.[3]
Lord Balfour de Casteelle has corresponded with both Dr. Van Richten and the Weathermay-Foxgrove Twins.[4] He even wrote a chapter for Van Richten's Arsenal on magic items.[5] Of course, he performs his "benevolent" actions to further his own agenda, particularly that of building contacts among adventurers and monster hunters.[1]
