By out new category system of giving categories up to Van Ritchen categories, does the Shadow Fiend get the Outsider category? I would say yes, if only to underline the fact that it receives a reality wrinkle and thus is a proper fiend, rather than a mist creature.
- As a monster type, it should get all categories up to the top-level. So yes, it does get Outsider. It's only individual NPCs that stop at the Van Richten category. (so if there were a named Shadow Fiend, he would NOT get Outsider.) -- Gonzoron 16:10, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
