Dread Scarecrows were once mundane scarecrows that were possessed with an evil or vengeful spirit, usually of the farmer who created it. They are able to comprehend (but not speak) any past language they knew, and seek nothing more than to avenge themselves for whatever injustice that led to their death. To this end they wield typical farm tools like pitchforks and scythes. Their touch is also capable of generating a curse that will cause a swarm of biting insects to descend on its victim.[1]
