A character from the Tapestry of Dark Souls novel, Ivar was a friend of the Guardians of the Tapestry of Dark Souls, having mentored Brother Leo and later Jonathan in wizardry. Ivar also created the wards that guarded the Monastery in Markovia.
In Linde, Ivar resided at the Nocturne with his sister Dirica and her husband Andor Merriwhite. He was partial owner of the winery adjunct to the inn. Linde was home to a number of lycanthropes living in hiding, for whom Ivar helped keep their bestial natures in check with Amulets of the Beast. He was assisted at the winery by his daughter Sondra.
History
Ivar hailed originally from Gundarak but later moved to Linde, Tepest, having fled there with his sister Dirica. He had intended to take his wife, Sara, but she refused as she was pregnant at the time. He had intended to return to Sara after she gave birth and take them both out of Gundarak[1] Unfortunately, things did not work out according to plan. Ivar had left several copper coins to Sara that he had magically disguised as gold. However, Duke Gundar discovered the deception and confiscated everything she owned. As further punishment, he outlawed anyone from giving her assistance. Although other relatives presumably took care of Sara and Ivar's daughter Sondra, Sara herself was left her to die of starvation.[2] fortunately, Sondra was able to escape to Tepest in approximately 734 BC.<ref>
