The Nocturne is a large sprawling but single story inn and tavern in Linde. The attached kitchen also serves as a winery for the production of cloudberry wine the town of Linde becoming famous for, permeating the inn with the smell of yeast and fermenting wine. As of 758 BC, the inn is owned by Samus and Vette. Samus originally hails from Viktal, but he became the heir of the property after the passing of his mother in 757 BC. However, the winery is communally operated.[1]

The Nocturne is featured heavily in the Tapestry of Dark Souls novel. Before and during the time of that book (approximately from 717 BC to 735 BC[2]), the inn was owned by Andor Merriwite[3], who had inherited it from his father[4], with meals cooked by his wife Dirca[5]. The winery was jointly owned by Andor and his brother-in-law Ivar (of Tepest). They were assisted by Sondra, Ivar and Dirca's daughter, whom arrived in 733 BC or 734 BC[6], and Jonathan, Sondra's lover and husband, whom arrived in 735 BC.[7] That year also saw the death of Dirca and then Ivar and Jon in the struggle against Morgoth. Andor was left the sole owner of it all by the end of the book, although [[Maeve (Lycanthrope)}Maeve]] began playing her lute there again after the resolution of a falling out with Andor and the death of Ivar.[8]

How the inn passed from Andor to Samus was not laid out in either ToDS nor Gazetteer V. Due to his lycanthropy, Andor avoided having children and thus producing an heir.[4], However, it might have passed to someone in his extended family or to Sondra and through her to some other relatives.
