Vistin Family
The Vistins family owns the Altid Duchy. It is pinched between the Heartland Duchy in the east, the Borchava Duchy in the north, the Shadow Rift and Barovia in the west, and the limit of the Volgis watershed in the south. Control over Bergovitsa is disputed with the Rivtoff family. Blacktower Heights, the strongly fortified seat of the family, stand beside the the Altid Bluffs
The family's patriarch is two-year-old Duke Grigor Vistin. The regent is Lady Lara Vistin.
The Visiin family is one of the five families that ruled Nova Vaasa by rotating the position of prince among their respective patriarchs in a process named the Cycle of Stewarts. In 729 Kethmar Bolshnik was serving as prince when he died in office. His son Othmar Bolshnik became prince in his sted, under the tutelege of a regent at his father's request. At the end of the Bolshnik term of office, the regent, Sir Tristen, stepped down but Othmar refused to do likewise, claiming that the regency had robbed him and his family of their turn. By remaining in office, Prince Othmar Bolshnik broke the Cycle of Stewarts. He remains in office today.
