Whereas Ravenloft has the ancient dead that may vary in abilities and strength by power rank (in 3rd Edition, as a template), the core Monstrous Manual or Monster Manual gives a "standard" mummy common to all settings. According to Van Richten's Guide to the Ancient Dead, the standard mummy is a Rank 3 Ancient Dead.[1]
A standard mummy can inflict mummy rot with its slam or fist attacks.The mere sight of a mummy can inflict a sense of paralyzing despair upon an observer[2][3][4]
