A greater fihyr is the product of many lesser fihyrs joining together into one entity. The fihyr is not only larger (7 ft. diameter) and more powerful but also more intelligent. A greater fihyr has two abilities that its lesser kindred lack: the ability to control emotions of those nearby with its spell-like abilities and the ability to become invisible. A greater fihyr can even remain invisible while using its emotion control powers, although it becomes visible when it physically attacks.^[1]

Unlike normal fihyrs, greater fihyrs are not destroyed or even injured by sunlight, allowing for a greater fihyr's continued existence into the daytime. Ironically, whereas normal fihyrs are annihilated instantly by sunlight but pay the danger no heed, greater fihyrs loathe sunlight and avoid it entirely despite not being harmed.^[1]
