Michael Smythe is the son of Alois Smythe and the father of Aleister Smythe.
As Alois' eldest son and heir, Michael took up his father's obsession with advancing through the ranks of the Fraternity of Shadows. He never manages to attain the rank of Umbra, however, so he never received immortality.
Michael forced Aleister to join the Fraternity against his will, once his son came of age to do so. His current whereabouts are unknown, but he was not living at the main family estate once his father Alois died.
