Category:Bloodhand Tribe
Led by Largo Bloodhand, the Bloodhand tribe was an outlander tribe of orcs from Faerun. When the Mists began taking areas near Phlan, the Mists also took Bloodhands, ultimately ending in Barovia for a time. Despite betrayal by a shaman and a war with the yuan ti, the Bloodhands were eventually able to make their way back to Faerun.
History
On Faerun, the Bloodhand Tribe came into conflict with some yuan ti of the Glumpen Swamp when the latter began abducting and enslaving Bloodhand orcs. Through successive attacks, the yuan ti were eventually successful in capturing a third of the orcs. They also captured Larga when she attempted to save the captured orcs.[1] While she was missing, her shamans took over leadership of the Tribe.[2] However, sometime during the orc-yuan ti warring, the Mists snatched Glumpen Swamp, many of the surrounding areas, and all the creatures inside- orcs and yuan ti included.
For a time, the Bloodhands tried to find their way back home, but the endeavor proved hopeless. The Bloodhands eventually encountered Sybil Raisa, whom performed a number of tarokka readings for them. Impressed with her skills as a seer, the subsequently enslaved her.[1] At some time, they were also able to capture another person for enslavement: an elf wizard named Ixusaxa Terrorsong.
Following Sybil's advice to find and liberate Larga, the Bloodhands raided passing caravans going to the Barovian town of Orașnou. This was done to force some assistance from the humans. The Bloodhands entreated adventurers to find the yuuan ti and free Larga in exchange for the cessation of raiding.[1] Vazschyss, a leader of the yuan ti, was subsequently defeated, and Larga was freed.[3]
Despite the above victory, the Bloodhands' problems were not over. Miserable about being trapped in strange lands, Gagg proposed the sacrifice of either Ixusaxa or Sybil to Gruumsh. An argument with another shaman led to a fight whereupon Gagg killed the other shaman. As punishment, Gagg was exiled from the tribe. He had not, however, left without convincing some of the other tribe members. Under the cloak of night, Gagg and his supporters infiltrated the Bloodhand camp and kidnapped both Ixusaxa and Sybil.[4]
In response to Gagg's betrayal, the Bloodhands once again appealed to adventurers, to destroy Gagg and rescue the prisoners. In return, Larga promised, the adventurers could take Ixusaxa.[5] Gagg was subsequently defeated and the prisoners freed from his possession. Ixusaxa was released from the orcs' captivity. The adventurers might have been able to persuade the Bloodhands to let go of Sybil.[6] If not, she eventually found antoher means escape or release.[7]
Later, Esmae Amarantha, the culprit responsible for the Mists' many abductions, was defeated by adventurers, and all that had been taken by the Mists in this incident were moved back to the Faerun.[8]
