The adventure starts in Thorn Hollow and involves the Shards of Light, three warring barons cursed by a witch and transformed into three crystals. Necromancer Malachi Nately recovered the shards and used them to open a gate to Baator. A gelugon came through the gate and kill Malachi, but became trapped in his lab, and the whole area was brought to Ravenloft, with the Shards becoming co-lords of a new domain.
Ivan Davian, used Malachi’s research to try to find the Shards of Light, and found the Azure Shard in the Nately Family tomb.[1]
Out from Darkness is somewhat of a sequel to this adventure that follows up on the Shards of Light.
