A port is a location used regularly for harboring and transferring cargo. Ports are harbors, landforms that afford a measure of shelter and that are apt generally to transferring cargo. Ports are found on seas, lakes, and rivers. They are key sites for trade and are of great importance to the local and broader economy. A port tends to be both a melting pot and more cosmopolitan than its host land.
