Devices made with the Create Device feat require a power source and follows the restrictions that power sources gives, in addition to any use restrictions imposed by the magical item equivalent of the device. Properly connecting a device to a power source requires a Knowledge (Arcana) check or Scientific Knowledge check (as given by the Learned Physician and Scientst Prestige Classes) taking an amount of minutes equal to the DC of the task.[1]
Characters with levels in the Scientist Prestige Class may also power one of their advanced tricks using a power source.[1]
