Slave-concubines are not simply slaves. They are not simply raped once and discarded. Rather they are retained for a time and are usually afforded at least somewhat better conditions and possibly vastly better conditions than their fellow slaves. This is in exchange for their submission and their compliance. The degree of submission and of compliance expected depends upon the appetites of their master. One could at least imagine Vlad Drakov taking pleasure in having to repeatedly beat a slave-concubine who would not be broken. Indeed, this at least conceivably describes his relationship with Isabella Aderre.
