Canon Information

Though Wolfweres are often confused with werewolves (a hated enemy of wolfweres), they are not lycanthropes nor are they even humanoid. Rather, werewolves are shapechanging wolves that can take the form of men. Although they are magical beasts, wolfweres often find infiltrating humanoid society and even the performance of music highly enjoyable.[1] They are common in the southern Core, especially in Kartakass. Important canon wolfweres include Harkon Lukas, darklord of Kartakass, several of his underlings including Haldrake Moonbaum, and Gabrielle Aderre's paramour Matton Blanchard.

A more powerful form of the wolfwere, the greater wolfwere, is the progeny of Harkon Lukas and a wolfwere mother.[2]

Wolfweres can be encountered in the domains of Invidia[3][4], Kartakass[5][6], and Tepest[7]. The Kartakans know the wolfwere as the narrulf ("trickster wolf"), and it is infamous in their lore.[8]

Descriptive Text

“The wolf growled, and then, to our shock and amazement, it stretched, standing upright like a man. Its paws lengthened to cruel, clawed hands. Its limbs popped and shifted, bending in ways that no beasts ought to. Its back arched and curved, so that as it rose on its misshapen legs, it kept its gleaming yellow eyes fixed on us.”

—From the tales of Matthew Swiftsinger of Skald[9]
