Making a search for traps on the lock , and the chest it self . If he thinks there is no traps on the lock he will attempt to pick it . If he finds a traps he will attempt to disarm it , then pick it . Taking 20 on those search checks for the chest/and lock if possible(Search of 30 total.) . Then if their is a trap disable it at a roll of 21/22 . Then taking 20 on the Open Lock will give a total of 28 .

If either Jon or Norzak would like to aide Alain in his search or disabling of locks or chests . Alain would accept this aide .

Bennedict strokes his chin, thoughtfully. "I would be eager to see what is on the other side, but look here." He points at the solidifying liquid around the edges of the pool. "It appears to be closing up. Without knowing how to reopen it, we could be trapping ourselves on the other side, with no idea of how to get back or even where we are. No, let's look around a bit first. One way or another, we'll find out where this thing goes. I am confident of that. But for now, patience."

Bennedict turns eagerly towards Buckman and his display of the doctor's belongings. He gives the Hazlani mage's corpse a vile look, before turning to the pile. He begins to handle the objects with interest, muttering a prayer to reveal magical auras. Staring at them in concentration, he mutters "Dorgio, you may want to see to Cirdan. I've healed many of his injuries, but the Druagr likely drained much of his life force. Restoring it is beyond my ability."

Translations: Knowledge: Arcana of 29 on the pool. Detect magic on the pile of objects. I can't cast restoration to fix Cirdan's energy drain, and all I've got is a CLW for the day. Wouldn't have cast my cure mod (meaning that I can't use healing touch) but I didn't want the Druagr to cut through Cirdan to get at the rest of us

I need to know if people are waiting around long enough for Alain to take twenty multiple times, as Skybolt has suggested. The portal does indeed appear to be closing. Is the party willing to wait and be patient, even if it means standing by while the portal soldifies completely? Once the group has made a decision, I can post a proper update.

You guys discuss plans if you need to do so, and let me know what you're going to do. I will post an update in a day or two- sooner if someone does something that forces me to react, or the party reaches and agreement as to how to proceed.

Guys I think it would be best if we split up and take 20 to search the place. Less chance of missing something that way. I think also we should make a few extra of these keys so each of us has one, and even extra ones to hide in the city in case we lose ours.... Thoughts?

Cirdan has siffered some sort of malefic life-drain, similiar to what Barovian vampires inflict upon their victims. More than mere physical injury, some of his vital essence has been siphoned away, leaving him a shadow of his former self. The condition is serious. He will require magic to restore his lost life-force, or else the recovery will be very long and slow.
