Can anyone tell me who posted this map? It was about a year ago on this site.

Thank you Joel. It really is a great map. I don't have any good Jpegs of the Black Box maps, and this fills in nicely.
On a related note, what sort of programs are people using to make maps these days? Mordent Chartographic Society has all theirs up in CC2 format, but does anyone still use this program? What would be the preferred format for posting maps?

I use Photoshop Cs3 for all my maps over in the Eye of Anubis game, its got the power and felxibility to do pretty much anything. However its isnt cheap and theres a bit of a learning curve on it. But if youre keen then a good place to start is Butch Currys "Fantasy Cartography with adobe photoshop" podcasts on Youtube (search for fantasy cartography)
As an alternative to Photoshop there is a freeware prgram that mostly replicates what can be done in photoshop with the unfortunate name of "Gimp" , you can download it from:
http://www.gimp.org/
(Yes moderators I am serious and that is a real URL)
For real world mapping (i.e in my real life job) I use Illustrator or Freehand which are vector programs and create clean lookign maps. I havent found them as useful in maps for RPG's , but if you want ot take a look then go for it. Again there is a freeware program that approximates them, this time called Inkscape:
http://www.inkscape.org/
I personally dont like CC that much as Im not keen on the look of the maps, but it does make maps quick and easy and there are a lot of peopl out there who love it.
Another option along these lines is Dundjinni, whihc is also a map creation program, but produces much better looking maps (IMO). I havent used it myself but I raid their forums for mapping elements every now and then:
http://www.dundjinni.com/
there are plenty of other optiosn out there as well, with 3d renderers and any number of packaged map programs, theres a big list over at the Cartographers Guild website:
http://forum.cartographersguild.com/sho ... php?t=1407
Incidentally if you are into maps and mapping the Cartographers Guild has a tone of resources, tutorials and reall friendly people who'll help you out of any mapping conundurum you can get yourself in (you need to register to view any images on the posts though)

Annnd generally Id post them as jpegs., but watch the file size.

Speaking of Maps:
Anyone has a detailed Map that focuses on the Sea of Sorrows? I've searched and haven't found anything other than Core maps like this one:

Would be appreciated.

The FoS is currently working on the SoS Report. Expect some maps in this work! ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
Meanwhile, you can consult the Companion Atlas, in the Mausoleum.
