"S"
The Kargatane considered letting her sign off in full at the end of Gaz XIII, but there was never any 'secret name' or anything in the plans. As far as they were concerned, she was just S.
In so much as the Gaz's are as much about S as the future of Land of Mists, what development was planned for her? We know she takes her own life to spite Azalin and assert mastery over her own existence. One might see in this a revised vision of knowledge and its worth, which ultimately implies something of a change in morality. But are there other changes? Does she accept and come to terms with any of the evils of her past actions? Is there any redemption for these? Or alternatively, does her evil deepen and she becomes a prime candidate for Powers Checks?

S was going to sink a bit deeper into darkness--I expect her suicide in Gaz VII was going to be the nadir--and eventually come out of it to the point where she willingly sacrifices herself to the God-Brain not to spite Azalin (at least, not just to spite him) but to thwart his newest scheme as best she can.
Here's some speculation.cure wrote:In so much as the Gaz's are as much about S as the future of Land of Mists, what development was planned for her? There are a lot of obvious parallels between the story of S and that of Azalin. They both were responsible for the death of their only child, they both regret it, they both are questing for knowledge/power, they both see the ends as justifying the means. Being clones, that's pretty normal.
At the moment, S is going down the same dark path as Azalin, but I think that her redemption will come from diverging from that path and fighting against her own nature. Realizing that she is nothing but a clone will probably play a part in that.

I know a fair amount of additions and shaping were to occur for the Shadowlands cluster if the gazeteer for them had come out (as stated in the Domain of the Month thread), but were there any particular storyline events planned for "S" when she arrived at this cluster?
Are there any other events that were to come up during any of the gazeteers that any of the developers could share, either character growth points for "S" or major events around her (like the earlier mentioned attempted suicide, etc.)?
Out of curiosity, about how far ahead was the planning for the various gazeteers? Did they only get past the vague plan to visit the domains in the planned order when they were next in line for print, or were some domains planned out a long time in advance?

Hi Resonant Curse, and welcome! This won't answer all your questions, but take a look at our recently uploaded compilation of known info on S. If it ain't there, it hasn't been revealed yet.

Worthy of reading. Thanks for the file. It is very sad indeed that the plot ended so suddenly and with only a third of it developed. It would have been interesting to see how it developed to the last Gaz.
IMHO there are so many ideas, notes and stuff left out that it gets confusing at times. Worst part is that it will remain incomplete, and maybe only as an adventure/campaign hook.

No, I am not about to hang flesh upon the skeleton. But we could at least dream of the original authors doing so.
