I have a house now. No more 1-bedroom apartments for my husband and me!

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed, mostly 'cause there's so much unpacking to do.
But we have our central heat, our hot water, and our cable/Internet working, which should do quite a bit to ease the burden.

OK, a new house is fun and everything, but did you make sure to check that it wasn't built on an old burial ground or that the gates of Hell aren't tucked away somewhere in your basement?

That's what the home inspection is for.

Very few post-WWII California houses have basements. Seismic issues, I suspect. This place was built in, IIRC, 1983.

The other day, my neighbor got a pet Guinea Pig!!!!
(My mom also recently bought an ant farm, don't ask me why, she's just weird that way.)
