Well, if there is any character with good memory and attention, the name Marri was referred in the church in Port d'Elhour and now in the conversation Lucien eavesdropped. So there is enough to make a connection. Of course, this has to be role-played.

This is the bartender, not the innkeeper. ^^ Bartenders are supposed to be chatty, especially when you're drinking their stuff -- which you technically are, since there are drinks with your three-course meal.

All Vincent needed was a name. The whole discussion with Greenleaf about that girl is what stuck with him, not necessarily the candles.

Would he react well to a bribe to simply go see Marri.
Was his overall reaction and explanation truthfull or is this guy playing his own game?
What else can I read from him.

He's a genuinely friendly man, who isn't playing his own game in any way, and his answers have been truthful. He's genuinely worried about Marri going into Lac Noir, not just because she seems like a nice girl - despite their brief acquaintanceship - but because it's a grueling test usually undertaken only by hermits or aspiring Voodan.

If you try to bribe him, he's likely to warn her some rich sieur is asking after her, instead of arranging a meeting. He knows she's scared of something, but not what it is she's scared of, and her fear of being thought a prostitute suggests some rather horrible possibilities to even the most kindly of people. He'd still take your money, though, and would try to spin you a tale. But in the end, both Marri and he are Souragnien, and you, Vincent? Are not. If you don't give him a name to give Marri, he's going to be suspicious. If Marri doesn't recognize the name you give him, he'll be doubly suspicious.
