On fundamental courtesies

Nadia is absent, having dressed up for something special at some event. Somewhere.

I don't know what she's going as, and I don't know where she's gone, but I do know that her costume involves pink skin dye on her legs.

I know this, because the toilet seat is pink where she'd sat on it.

As is the couch.

And the dining room chairs.

And the car seat.

>_<

I went to the fridge to get a beer and I noticed the handle of the fridge is stained pink too, but I'm not ready to think too hard about that one.

Edit: She went as a WoW succubus, which are apparently pink.

Their skin is pink. This includes their hands, hence the marks on the fridge handle (I hope).

This was taken right off of WoWHead.

A friend of mine did the same thing five years ago, except it was pink latex body paint...and black for the corset. We're lucky the bar (back then a "private club for members" due to Utah's now-abolished nonsensical liquor law about commercially selling alcohol) didn't kick us out! I guess people thought it was spandex or something.

I didn't even notice this before, but let's set the records straight. Again. There is only one "I" in my name. I took it from the monarch of the Izumo Kingdom in the Sega Saturn game Dragon Force. Yes, I know that's techincally not a true kanji name (there's no "L" equivalent in classical kanji) but it was the Japanese who produced the game (and a damn fun one, at that) and the letter "L" is becoming more common in modern Japan, so I feel it's an appropriate translation. Please. "Mikhail" is a Slavic translation; mine is meant to be a Japanese translation. Sorry for the minor rant but I hope this explains why I spell my user name the way I do.

Aches and pains

I played tennis with LomboDot today. By the time I was done for the afternoon, my legs were tired. By evening, my haunches were aching from the constant bending and lunging.

HDT (my cheeky brother) came online.
HDT: How was tennis?

HMB: My arse is aching.

HDT: Hmm, maybe you should change your grip.
...

HDT is cheeky!

I think my brain just throws in random letters. It was probably me trying to say the name just like some people leave letters out of my user name sometime I've gotten silver, ziller, zifler(this one is very common), among others! xD

Sorry about the miss-spelling!

S'alright. I know a lot of people who think I mispelled it. But that's how it was spelled in the game and that's how I'm using it. ...Damn, now I have the awful craving to dust off my old Sega Saturn and play that game again. Argh!

Evidence of the Wrong Offense

LomboDot: I found an earring on your bedroom table. And it's not mine.

HMB: Is it missing a brooch? Is it silver painted plastic? Is it a clip on earring with a torn earlobe pad?

LomboDot: Err... Yes to all the above.

HMB: Right, that earring is one of mine. Stick it back in the purse in the closet, next to the Bobby cut wig and the bra inserts, would you?

LomboDot: ...I guess I shouldn't have worried...

ROFLMAO! I had something similar happen, though in my case it was a gold dream-catcher. It's allowed at my workplace to wear earrings, but since gold is highly conductive and I'm the systems manager (and yes, I do have to wear a grounding bracelet plugged into the ground to avoid static) it's just a bad idea to wear metal. A lady friend of mine, who works at the same building but for a different company, saw it on my bedside table as I was getting ready for dinner with her (though what she was doing in my bedroom is another matter). For someone who has expressly said she wants a Platonic relationship she was acting pretty weird until I showed her my collection in my dresser. Then she was embarrassed the whole night. Asperger's gave me a better understanding of the female mind since mine's wired similarly; trust me, it's not a blessing to know what women really mean and they know I know. She always complains men don't practice self-honesty. A little hypocritical?

No bra implants in my closet, though. Or purses. Well, okay, there was that one Halloween when I went as Mel Gibson's character in Tootsie. Hey, I one $100 at a friend's costume party for that one!

Wordplay

We like to engage in pointless puns and wordplay.
Aze: I believe you need to be more topical. And by topical, I mean "of or pertaining to the topic", and not (say) "to be applied to the skin directly".

Nadia: Interesting. Could you please clarify? And by clarify, I mean "to make clear or to elucidate", and not (say) "to reduce butter to oil through sustained heat".

HMB: You guys must have some sort of congenital issue. And by congenital, I mean "present from birth", and not (say) "mutually joined at the crotch".

Lyra: I think the issue here is nomenclature. And by nomenclature, I mean "regarding the assignation of names", and not (say) "the general condition of a dedicated lesbian's undercarriage".

Aze: ...

Nadia: ...

HMB: ...

Lyra: ... :) ?

HMB: Okay, game's over. Lyra wins. Everybody go home now.

HMB: Aw, dude, come over with us! It'll be fun! They all like you a lot!

WiseOne: (astute glance) I think you're really eager to bring me along because then you can introduce me as the one person in the group you haven't been romantically involved with.

HMB: ...

WiseOne: Am I right?

HMB: ...yeah... :(

WiseOne: I knew it.

HMB: But, but, but... We can change that for you if you like!

WiseOne: No thanks, man.

The Devil's Pact

I'm working on a new project now. They want me to put in lots of hours.

If I put in eighty four hours per week, they will pay me somewhere north of six thousand dollars per week.

...

I may have to talk with LomboDot about this. If I die of overwork, she'll be the one doing funeral arrangements in any case.

Well that's only twelve hours a day every day of the week. I would recommend letting management shrivel your ego like a raisin, cutting off all contact with friends and family, learning to live solely off of coffee and microwave popcorn, and forgetting about any kind of intimate contact. When you're a gaunt, pasty, emotionally shattered echo of a person, you're ready for the abbatoir--I mean, "deal."

It's 10:12 pm and I'm heading home from work.

I wish I were joking.

At this rate I'll be a millionaire in three or four years, assuming I don't fritter away the money on luxuries such as food, clothes, a place to live, etc.

Ouch! I've had to do the eighty-four hour week thing myself once. Just know when to call it quits or you really will risk dying. That was when I had to have my gall bladder removed thanks to a gall stone that nearly killed me. Stress can be a very literal killer as it screws up your internal functions.

HMB on where you eat

2011 I hung out with a woman who reminded me of Tilda Swinton, but Asian. AsianTildaSwinton, or ATS for short, was a food and drinks connoisseur (connoisseuse?) and she and I got along very well on our few dates. She was really cool. She made it a point to personally know the chefs at each restaurant she liked, and she knew a lot of really great restaurants and hole in the wall dining places.

More than once she invited me to spend the night at her place after an evening of trying beers and wines in her favorite restaurants.

I always declined. Not because I wasn't attracted to her personally (I was) and not because she didn't appeal to me physically (she did), but because of a somewhat more permanent externality: she had a young son from her prior marriage.

I never told her this outright ("hey babe I would totally rock your world if it weren't for your kid...") but it caused a significant quandary for me. On the one hand, I could totally enjoy a fun night or more with her. On the other hand, it could never be anything serious because I'm personally opposed to becoming a parent on philosophical grounds. I could get involved but not without some degree of deception or raising false hopes. I decided ultimately that I'd have to respect her friendship and to avoid any sort of forced emotional choice between a love interest and a child.

We kept in distant touch for a few years, and I sensed a faint sadness in her demeanor whenever I saw her again. She's a good mother to her kid, and I feel like her current situation reflects more on bad luck than on poor choices or recklessness.

I chalked it up to an intriguing adventure that I'd have to leave for a nobler man to complete.

Still, it would be something to put in the past and to plumb for occasional lessons, and otherwise forgotten about.

...

The new project I'm working at, ATS is the project manager.

This should be an interesting project. O_o

Quarter to eleven at night. Almost home.

Swans. Swans, everywhere.

Edit, rather than starting a new post.

The project I'm working on is a Chinese language legal document review project. Many of the people here are native Chinese. A large percentage of them speak English with a significant accent.

Most interesting are the one's who speak English natively eel, but with a regional accent. You have a funny situation where a Chinese person is talking to you with an urban American accent and sounding much more like am African American youth.

And then you have me, where the Chinese is a weird mix of southern Chinese and Beijing curled tongue Chinese. Worse still, my English is a mix of urban laborer speech, with a completely incongruous British accent creeping in when I'm annoyed or formal.

One time I said "dat booty just too fine" and everybody started laughing before I realized I was still in my Received Pronunciation schoolboy English.
