Indeed, it matches the basic description of RoE - two floors, tavern on the ground floor, room on second floor.

Hand drawn maps? That's ... nice actually for Ravenloft.

Re: CONFIRMED: Ravenloft for 5th Edition
Well, I am definitely going to buy it, but I am scared that I won't be able to play it at all because I am working my playing group through a Ravenloft campaign using my version of the Grand Conjunction that has been running for going on four years now. Not sure how my players would feel about: "OK guys, now, this time with feeling!"

That's not the final version, it's a draft.alhoon wrote:Hand drawn maps? That's ... nice actually for Ravenloft.

Have a side campaign or alternate reality shift where they shift back to your reality afterwards? Or maybe a time shift could do it as well.Quinntonia wrote:Well, I am definitely going to buy it, but I am scared that I won't be able to play it at all because I am working my playing group through a Ravenloft campaign using my version of the Grand Conjunction that has been running for going on four years now. In related news, Wizards' Twitch-Fu is strong these days:
To sum up, Chris Perkins will run a series of Curse of Strahd sessions on WotC's Twitch livestreaming channel.

That's about a week before release right? Or so?

Re: CONFIRMED: Ravenloft for 5th Edition
The download link for Curse of Strahd™ Launch Event scenario was sent out to the WPN shops yesterday (or at least it was to my FLGS).
It's a 12 page, location based, mini-module set in the Village of Barovia. It's intended for first level characters, and seems to be designed to fast-track level advance ready for the main campaign.
It looks rather nicely presented, but I've little more than scanned my eyes over it so far.

Re: CONFIRMED: Ravenloft for 5th Edition
1. I'm curious about this. I posted about it somewhere on enworld thinking maybe someone knew about more Curse of Strahd minis. The Strahd Nightmare mini is here for preorder: http://www.flamesofwar.com/Default.aspx ... ageIndex=1Ender wrote:For those who don't follow Chris Perkins/Mike Mearls/Wizards_DnD/Others on Twitter, here's some brief points of interest dealing with things mentioned about Ravenloft 5E (sadly, I'm at work and can't link to the actual tweets at the moment):
1. Strahd rides on a Nightmare. The picture is cool.
2. A Paladin using Find Steed summons a skeletal steed.
Apparently its' name is Bucephalus. I was wondering if anyone here had remembered it being mentioned in RL canon before? I googled and at first all I could find is that it's the name of Alexander the Great's lil' pony and was quiete famous. Then I found a single RL related mention in this Reddit thread from a year ago:
So has it been mentioned before, possibly engraved on one of the crypts (and thus I easily forgot it)?
2. I'm not so sure about this, as I think something like this can easily go the wrong way for the mood of RL. If the pally can summon and control and it's no big deal (Or 'Awesome!' even) then I'd just disregard this. Plus it'd be like he's practicing Necromancy!
However I did do something like give a PC Paladine A Shadow Unicorn or something similar one time, but this was part of a curse/dark powers check thing he didn't know about prior. Along those lines, it would be cool to see a Paladin thinking he's about to smite and run down some evil in RL as he's summoning his steed, only to be met with shocking terror as this undead monstrous abomination answers his call. But that would also require the PC's not knowing, but in this blurb they've definitely made it known and common knowledge.

Re: CONFIRMED: Ravenloft for 5th Edition
I don't like the skeleton steed and I'll disregard it. If it's a "hostile" steed, i.e. if the paladin calls a steed only to summon a skeletal horror from beyond the grave that attacks the paladin... I'll change it to something "animal-secretary" thing.
A horse that seems a bit "off" at first, growing more and more "off" till it turns on the paladin.
Something like the horse not using its tail to drive away flies. Then the paladin notices it doesn't graze grass. Then the paladin notices that the horse lies very, very still. It's eyes shine a bit iffy. And then, the horse does something quite bad for the paladin at a bad time; stopping while monsters are coming, or throwing off the paladin mid charge.
Till, the horse, finally... takes a bite on a bleeding person and tries to kill that person if he or she resists.

Re: CONFIRMED: Ravenloft for 5th Edition
The original I10 Ravenloft game module had Bucephalus in Crypt #39, and specifically stated "This is Strahd's steed."mason wrote: Strahd rides on a Nightmare. The picture is cool.

I6, not I10, but yeah:Catman Jim wrote: The original I10 Ravenloft game module had Bucephalus in Crypt #39, and specifically stated "This is Strahd's steed."

looks like either the spelling has changed or someone misspelled it when entering it into the RL Catalogue. I'm not able to check right now.

I6, page 29 has it written as "Beucephalus".Gonzoron of the FoS wrote:I6, not I10, but yeah:Catman Jim wrote: The original I10 Ravenloft game module had Bucephalus in Crypt #39, and specifically stated "This is Strahd's steed."
