Domain of the Month: Bluetspur

Post by KingCorn »

Once again, I continue to leech of the accomplishments of my predecessors and attempt a Domain of the Month. And speaking of unloved leeches, the Domain of the month for February is Bluetspur, the alien land of the mindflayers now lost in the mists. Just share any ideas and thoughts you have about Bluetspur

Soon or later that will have a "my take of.." post too; Until then, I present you the city of Alliance City; 200,000 Inhabitants, Monstruos, N/G
Alliance City is a city which exist as a meeting ground beetwen the two populations of the island, the Illithids of The Illithid Egemony and the humans of the Kingdom of Thaan; Alliance City is the place were the Voice of the Elder Brain and the King of Thaan Seldrid Thaangor signed the Impossible Peace, which ended millennia of war on the island; Alliance City wellcome both Illithid and Humans and is the place were the Mind Sages a powerfull order of Psionics, both human and Illithid works together to the mutual improvement of theyr races;
The Mind Sages made possible for Illithids to live without eating sentient brains with the creation of Beta-Brains, artificial brains whichallow the illithids to live without killing sentients; They also provided clones for ceremorphosys.
But not all is quiet in paradise, as the city is often the target of violent terrorist strikes, both Illithid and Humans.
Dread Possibility: If something is too good to be true, maybe it isn't; Are the terrorist strikes real? And if they were, in truth, a covering for black ops? Have the Illithid of Bluetspur really remounced any ambition of world domination? Or are they playing a subtler game? The Mind Sages seems pargon of virtues but, could you bet your brain on it?

Vat Born: A specialized race of humanoids found only in the deep tunnels and canyons of Bluetspur, they are the secret to how the illithid can continue to feed themselves: farms. Kidnapping alone just could not keep up the demand for organic materials and delicious brain matter. Using their own biomancy, as well as technology stolen from the brilliant Dr. Mordenheim, they have developed their own slave race: the Vat Born. Allowed to develop in isolation in the tunnels, they have developed into several clans who offer their own to the "Masters" in order to save themselves. Allowed to live as they please, and then harvested when ripe.
The Vat Born are almost universally composed of Calibans and Broken Ones. While some would think it a flaw in the growth process, in truth it is simply the illithids lack of care for the appearance of their slaves.

The Crystlith is a rare multicolore crystal -like material found near the sutface of Bluetspur; Cristhlith can beusedto store psichich energy; not-evil aligned Illithids use it to spice up the non sentient brains they eat.
The Crystlith however can be dangerous if used indescriminatly, causing psychic umbalancing on the subjects they store psychic energy from.

I made a plothook for them in the Barovia post. I had them run one of the few insane asylum in Barovia, while also interogating some of their patients under hypnosis, convinced that many cases of madness are linked to their former masters. They believe the Nightmare Court maybe the true rulers of Bluetspur, as they are beings of pure thought
