Virus news

Esteemed members of the Fraternity,
Miladies,

In these strange times we live in, there is only one person feeling cheerful and that is this despicable Malus Sceleris. How he must be laughing.

So we will simply take this time to wish that you and your families and friends are safe from this madness. Take care of those around you and stay safe. Call the elderly you know and ask them if they need anything, or just talk with them. And if you have free time, take this time to plan your next game.

As for the FoS site special measures:

- We closed the site to new members registration. It simply isn’t the time to make masked balls and parties, with uninvited strangers walking in.

- We run anti-virus on the board software every fifteen minutes.

- All people with flu-like symptoms should avoid coming to the FoS site until that person has recovered. Please be responsible and avoid spreading contamination. And know we now have a board special feature activated : we can watch you. (Mischief, why are you blowing your nose? It’s suspicious.)

- Those online roleplaying in Café de Nuit, please respect the 6 feet distance between your characters.

- We are working on applying protective masks to all avatars. Please be patient, as there is a shortage even of digital images of these masks.

- The FAQ has been updated to include other special measures.

Do not be another Prince Prospero: make sure the last sentence of the novel doesn’t happen.

Remember, unlike the Darklords, we will eventually be freed from our domains. This too shall pass.

Take care everybody,

The Fraternity of Shadows.

Merely allergies! I most definitely have not been running any manner of fever! *Cough* Anyhow! *Hack* I have compiled my report on what would happen if Covid-19 got loose in Ravenloft!

Darkon: Victims of the virus are raised as undead to patrol the roads and eat whoever breaks quarantine. Advisers timidly negotiate Azalin's proposed thirty year lockdown down to a measly decade.

Falkovnia: Talons impale anyone who coughs to stem the spread, but it doesn't work. The sick are forced at spearpoint to dig mass graves for themselves.

Richemulot: Displaced rats swarm the streets as the sewers back up from people flushing non-toilet paper.

Barovia: Vallaki residents are relieved that festivals will be suspended, but Baron Vargas Vallakovich declares "All will be well!" and that mandatory festivals will continue.

Dementlieu: Fancy pocket squares worn over the mouth, enormous hoop skirts for women and absurdly wide ruffles for men become extremely popular. Social distancing means more space for clothing!

Hazlan: The Mulan use Lesser Restoration any time they feel a cough coming on. Their Rashemani servants have to sleep outside.

Mordent: Construction equipment appears overnight at the abandoned mansion on Gryphon Hill. An angry ghost has been seen complaining about overcrowding and the need for a new wing.

Lamordia: Resistant mad scientist creates strange automatic lung bellows. Hundreds saved! Vaccine trial does not go so well and now were-pangolins stalk the mountains.

Borca: Ivana Boritsi and Ivan Dilisnya enact rent forgiveness!? Ah, but they hoarded all the hand sanitizer and masks in advance to corner the market, and make a killing anyway.

But seriously, my sincere condolences to anyone who is struggling with the illness, their jobs, or the loss of a loved one or friend. I hope everyone here remains well.

Not what I was expecting, but certainly appreciated.
Thank you FoS for keeping things interesting in such a day, for ... how many years now?

We could not avoid the C19 in our April 1st announcement. All prank ideas were bland in comparison, or didn't fit.

We didn't want to be just grim and serious - as the time could suggest. We think laughter is the best remedy when in isolation, and everybody needs it.

But we didn't want to be all jokes about the matter either. There are probably members on this site who have seen family affected - or will. 40 000 + death isn't laughing matter.

So (we think) chose a path somewhere in between.

And for your question, funny, I was thinking the same thing this morning. The FoS site is 16 years old :)
