My Big Bad Map of Ravenloft
Re: My Big Bad Map of Ravenloft
Another soul with good taste who also bins the Shadow Rift!
Re: My Big Bad Map of Ravenloft
Awww, I'm okay with the Shadow Rift, but I have it where the north is more of a huge valley with sloping sides rather than 100% sheer cliffs - the farther south you go, the more impassable the mountains.
In my campaign there's a couple of "safe" (being a relative term) roads and riverways that cross it, but travelers ensure that they leave early enough to end the journey or reach some kind of waystop before nightfall.

The map seems to be missing Liffe. Was this a deliberate choice?

You fixed the flow of the rivers, or so it appears. Water moving downslope and draining into the sea, bogs, or low lakes. Good.
But what's up with that river across the central region? I'm squinting and trying to determine its course.

It was not. Where is it suppose to be?The Lesser Evil wrote:The map seems to be missing Liffe. Was this a deliberate choice?

I'll try and smooth it out.ewancummins wrote:You fixed the flow of the rivers, or so it appears. Water moving downslope and draining into the sea, bogs, or low lakes. Good.

Re: My Big Bad Map of Ravenloft
The big foul-up with Ravenloft rivers came with the GC map changes. The Shadow Rift and the Nocturnal Sea mess up quite a lot of the old map, which actually made sense as a world midway between natural and patchwork geography.
After the GC you have stuff like a river flowing from one sea to the other, moving uphill a good part of the way. Bizarre and probably not what the designers intended...

Whan I declared that the Vuchar flowed in the opposite direction I was contested, so much I changed it back In the definitive version of Darkon.

Re: My Big Bad Map of Ravenloft
The Vuchar starts in the Mists east of Nevuchar Springs and flows down through the long valley that fills the central region of Darkon, joined by tributaries from the highlands then flows through Il Aluk, turns south and through through a valley around the Sleeping Beast and empties into the Sea of Sorrows amidst the far western marshes of Lamordia.Mistmaster wrote:Whan I declared that the Vuchar flowed in the opposite direction I was contested, so much I changed it back In the definitive version of Darkon.

Yet again the Black Box map wins for actually providing useful information it shows you elevation.
