Legacy of the Blood

Post by Teravala »

A 3.0 book designed to give rules for playing as a member of the aristocracy. I love this book, as I think it had a lot to offer in terms of interesting classes, familial magic (love the idea of magic cultivated and unique to a bloodline), and really being able to flesh out notable family lines in the setting. I was however seeking a bit of clarity on one point. The book presents racial statistics for members of the various families, and I have always wondered if this is supposed to be in place of human racial traits or in addition to them. Do they still receive additional skill points at first level and every level thereafter? What about the bonus feat at level 1? The most likely answer I feel is that these are in lieu of traditional human racial traits, but that never really sat well with me, as these are, generally, supposed to be human beings with distilled traits of their family line. Side note, this book is responsible one of my all time favorite characters, a bard/accomplished medium, who, while fully capable of communing with spirits, used her bardic magic to fake seances, as in her experience, most people don't truly want to know what their departed relatives actually have to say to them, but rather want closure and absolution of any guilt they carry towards the deceased. She was ridiculous, and a little campy and just delightful.
