The Doomsday Device

Post by Mephisto of the FoS »

Hi I made another 3D model, this time Azalin's Doomsday Device, surounded by crystal skulls as in the Requiem adventure description.

I suggest to print the whole thing transparent and then paint the "non-clystal" parts gold.

The upper part can be opened to place Azalin's miniature inside the hourglass.

There is a file for making extra crystal skulls and placing them over the fixed ones as it is written in the description (the crystal skulls are stacked around the device up to 10 feet high).

The Doomsday Device itself is 40 feet high as is the model (22,5 cm/ 9 inches to be exact, that makes it 45 feet instead of 40).

I am thinking of adding draconic inscriptions on the lid, tell me what you think.

Happy printing! :azalin:

Looks sick! I think draconic inscriptions on the lid will look cool too!

Done! although I made it in Infernal not Draconic, it seemed more appropriate since the prototype was called Infernal Machine.

With the new lid the Doomsday Device's height is 20cm (20 cm = 8 inches = 8 game grid squares = 40 feet in game) as described in the adventure.

The inscription writes "Doomsday Device"...

How original!!!... :azalin:

Not anytime soon, it is just going to be left in my pile of shame...

As I posted in another topic I am now in the process of printing the The Great Colosseum of Lekar. As I print it larger by 54% than the stl file it take 1 day for each part. So far I have printed 3 corner pieces and each piece uses 580gr of filament so with one roll of filament I can print almost 2 corner pieces.

The doomsday device takes a few hours to print but needs carefull cleaning from supports as the bones are a bit fragile.

I have to make some small corrections though (for instance after printing I understood that one of the bones is reversed compared to the rest.
I let you know when I make the correction.
