Have you ever had this feeling

Post by Fido »

Yesterday, as I was sitting in my bed, having just finished reading GAZII the day before, I felt guilty.

Guilty, because I wasn't preparing a game in Falkovnia and that I was just letting Drakov have his way. It felt as if I was letting all those people out there just be oppressed and that I wasn't doing anything about it.

Damn, that felt disturbing...

*Cough*

Glad I've got that off my chest.

Maybe you are a little bit over sensitive?

Welcome to the forums! And don't worry about the Falkovnians. Gondegal's got it under control. :)

Welcome. Falkovnia certainly does have a lot of use for a DM doesn't it? I'd place it as one of my top 5 domains for campaign use -just so much things that can be used, especially after Gaz 2.

Well Fido, I'll take your emotional reaction to the plight of the Falkovnians as a compliment to my writing. ^_^

But don't worry, even if Drakov fell, there'd still be plenty of problems left to plague Falkovnia.

Welcome Fido.

To answer your second question, I've often identified myself with / felt empathy with caracters in a novel, and as a DM, I often try to think like a particular NPC, trying to feel the guilt / angst / fear / sadness etc. that it felt, in order ti better roleplay him / her.

But feeling guilty of not making plans about a darklord, never !

Ever seen a strange ballerina in your dreams recently? :)

I have to say, that this was just a feeling I had for a split second. I realised I was being an idiot immediately thereafter.
Just to make it clear... :)

I don't think that the guilt you felt is all that out of place. In fact I would say it is very appropriate and and testimony to the author's writing skills.

It has also been my experience that whenever strong emotional responses are felt by the DM it can often transfer into similar responses to players.

Well my two cents anyway
Vote Cthulhu! At least then we know we are going to get screwed.
