Three down, two to go
While wandering home today I hit a local used bookstore on a whim and found three of the Ravenloft novels missing from my collection. They even had 2 copies of several and assorted other RL books. So, giggling like a little school-girl, I snatched up my new prizes.
Tales of Ravenloft, Baroness of Blood and Death of a Darklord are now mine leaving only To Sleep With Evil and King of the Dead.
My 'Loft collection is even more brain-staggering and mind-blowing now lacking only the above Light in the Belfry (two copies of that are available at a local used gaming store but I haven't had the disposable cash and tolerance for poop to buy it yet) and a handful of the minis.
So, I just thought I'd brag here for a second. They wer cheap too, $3 a pop. Now if I can find King for that I'll be set...

Good luck with that! I sold my spare copy of KotD two years ago on Ebay and got almost $40 for it. Congrats on your finds & best wishes for your soon-to-be-complete collection!David of the Frat wrote:Now if I can find King for that I'll be set...

Then you & I are in competition, as that is the only item I do not have in my collection (other than the Adventurer's Guild Ravenloft modules). I've been looking for one for several years, since I first heard of it back on the Kargatane board. Good luck in your quest, I'll be sure to let you know if I ever find more than one...gonzoron wrote:The Dicepouch, ...And then I'm done! Done I tell you! MWAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH!!!!!

Cool.Catman Jim wrote:Then you & I are in competition, as that is the only item I do not have in my collection (other than the Adventurer's Guild Ravenloft modules).gonzoron wrote:The Dicepouch, ...And then I'm done! Iron & Blood was a Playstation (1) fighting game using characters from Ravenloft, various 'good' characters in the employ of Strahd vs. various 'evil' characters & monsters working for Soth. I have it and also a PC version, really wasn't much of a game, you just stand in the middle of an arena and trade blows until you win or die. Here's a review I found online.Bloody Morgan wrote:Ok, the first I have, the second I have seen, and it's basically the same engine in a different location, but what's Iron & Blood?

I could never complete either of the other two Ravenloft PC games, I don't have a joystick and the action is too clunky without it. They are MS-Dos based and my new computer has hissies about trying to play those now.
I've had far more fun playing Ravenloft modules on Neverwinter Nights, I just finished a module this week, DL16 Dargaard Keep (yes, Dragonlance), where I totally trashed Soth and his lackies (the banshees were toughest, and no sign of the infamous pet tarrasque!).
Yes, I did get the last of the Ral Partha Ravenloft line a while back. Someday I may actually get-around to painting them...

There's also a code that lets you play as Strahd, who is insanely powerful (of course) and mops up whoever you're fighting against pretty quickly.Catman Jim wrote:Iron & Blood was a Playstation (1) fighting game using characters from Ravenloft, various 'good' characters in the employ of Strahd vs. various 'evil' characters & monsters working for Soth. As a fighting game, Iron & Blood is frankly not very good. It has dull, uninteresting characters (except for Soth and Strahd, neither of whom are playable, except for the code), the graphics are mediocre even for the time, and the controls are a little sluggish and uninspired.
As a Ravenloft product, it fares even less well. Other than the weak story that you're working for Strahd so you can find out how to go home (the good characters are all non-natives), there's really no connection to Ravenloft at all.

Actually there are codes for not only Strahd but the Minions of Order and Chaos and the Lord of Chaos which is a balor.
You can get used copies of Iron & Blood at www.ebgames.com for $2, I think.

Information seems to come my way whether by chance or by fate, but all this means, is that I have yet to find out what will kill me and why. - The Stygian Inquirer

I got Iron & Blood for $5 at GameStop, but it wasn't really worth it. The worst thing about it are the controls and the camera angles.
Far too often, the camera places itself at an angle where your opponent is between you and the camera, completely blocking your character from view, and since you can't control the camera, you're basically hosed until the camera moves to a better angle.
As for the controls, it's bad enough that the instruction book doesn't tell you how to do the moves and you have to look them up on http://www.gamefaqs.com or some other website, but it's worse when you realize that even if you know the moves, you can't pull them off anyway, since the controls are so sluggish and unresponsive.
With Acclaim consistently producing dreck like this, it's no surprise that they went belly up in 2003...what is a surprise is that they lasted that long, as Iron & Blood was released in 1996.

Yup, Iron & Blood is one of the last things I need for good reason. I don't really want it per se, but I must have it ALL! I could pick it up at pretty much any time, I just haven't bothered. (Also why the vecna modules have waited this long. I'm not a Vecna fan, I'll probably never use them, but my collection must be complete!)
Catman, I'll try not to step on your toes. The Dicepouch is elusive, ain't it? What's your ebay handle? (assuming that's one of the places you're looking)
