Yes, we all need to step back and take a moment . . . but . . . consider this . . .
The shadows of future Gazetteers will almost certainly never take on substance let alone see the light of day. Yet the story arc running through them is fully fleshed out. To the extent that I understand such matters, it is the property of the Kargatane. So might not they, or their appointed minions, set pen to paper and produce the epic tale? Were permission needed from White Wolf, it would be a fine parting gift.
Whether the tale would begin at the beginning or pick up where the Gazetteers left off would be of little ultimate consequence.
Madness or brilliance?

I'm not sure if the Gazetter story line was included in the material that Arthaus now owns and was part of what John asked about. Writing it in novel form... much less likely.
On the plus side, we're getting the unedited version of Guide to the Mists for free. If that isn't a hell of a good-bye gift, I don't know what is.
I'm only hoping that by unedited, it also means that none of the submitted material was cut either.

The Remnants have one saying to represent loss, disappearance, exile, and death. It is Shiao Marests, "Taken by The Shadows".
