Ship of Horror

Post by Spiteful Crow »

I have a couple of questions about the Ship of Horror adventure (Grand Conjunction #2)

For starters, I couldn't find any reccomended level for the adventure. Seeing how Feast of Goblyns and Night of the Walking Dead are labeled as low level, I find it kind of weird to expect low level characters to kill Meredoth, a level 20 Necromancer. Am I missing something?

Also, if the players actually kill Meredoth, what happens to the Nocturnal Sea? Are there any suitable NPCs to use as a darklord, or do I have to make one up? Or... does the entire east coast suddenly vanish?

Well, do realize that back when Meredoth was created, he was simply lord of Graben Island and its neighbors, which were stuck in the Sea of Sorrows.
I'd figure that if Meredoth were destroyed (now), darklordship of the Nocturnal Sea would probably shift to another one of the darklords there.
"Arrogant mortal! You are in my world now and you will never leave this attic alive! I will destroy you, and then I will possess she whom you love the most. And there is not a single thing in the world you can do to stop me!"

I believe that Ship of Horror is for 12th level characters, or at least according to the free download at Wizards. :?

top front cover of the module says 4-6 players level 8-10

Since Meredoth is a high-level necromancer, I had him use several contingency spells and back-up clones...or you could so something similar to the undying soul ablity, transferring his spirit into a nearby corpse or somesuch.

That's probably what I'll do. I like Meredoth too much to let him die so quickly. :P
