Question about Soth's Creations
Question about Soth's Creations
I've read here and there that, before he managed to "slip" his position as Darklord of Sithicus, Lord Soth managed to somehow draw a village of Kender into Sithicus and then transformed them into vampires. Now, I know that these "Vampiric Kender" have been retconned into Vampiric Halflings, but can anyone tell me where I can find their 3/3.5 ed stats? That is, if the stats exist.
Also, out of curiosity, did Lord Soth design any other forms of undead during his stint in the Land of Spectres?

I take it you mean 3.x stats for vampire kender? I haven't seen any.Hell_Born wrote:Now, I know that these "Vampiric Kender" have been retconned into Vampiric Halflings, but can anyone tell me where I can find their 3/3.5 ed stats? That is, if the stats exist.
Yes, I mean 3.x edition stats for vampire kender/halflings. If you can't tell me where I can find the stats (though I think there are some in the Kencyclopedia netbook I picked up recently), can you tell me which 3.x edition books mention the actual creatures?
Speaking of Kender, I know I've seen topics here before mention the idea of them appearing in Ravenloft- generally to reactions of alarm. My own musing on the subject; why not simply make it than any Kender unfortunate enough to come to the Demiplane of Dread eventually changes permanently into an Afflicted Kender?

Speaking as someone for whom Dragonlance ended with Spring Dawning, what are Afflicted Kender?Hell_Born wrote:Speaking of Kender, I know I've seen topics here before mention the idea of them appearing in Ravenloft- generally to reactions of alarm. After The War of Chaos (approximately 30 years after the War of the Lance) the Dragon Overlords rose to power. The largest was the red Malystryx, who decimated Goodlund and Kendermore. The Kender who escaped became so jaded by the horrors they saw under Malys's rule, they became paranoid and withdrawn. The became known as Afflicted Kender.Bloody Morgan wrote:Speaking as someone for whom Dragonlance ended with Spring Dawning, what are Afflicted Kender?Hell_Born wrote:Speaking of Kender, I know I've seen topics here before mention the idea of them appearing in Ravenloft- generally to reactions of alarm. The Kencyclopedia is at www.kencyclopedia.com

That's a brilliant idea. How would the rules for that work? My first inclination would be the first time a kender suffers a moderate or major horror or madness effect just like with losing Innocence, although it might take too long to get the little buggers in line that way.Hell_Born wrote:Speaking of Kender, I know I've seen topics here before mention the idea of them appearing in Ravenloft- generally to reactions of alarm. (Incidentally, if that question is addressed on Kencyclopedia, mea culpa--I'm having trouble getting the FAQs to load.)

Glad to hear you like the idea and no, it isn't adressed in the Kencyclopedia- that's strictly for Krynn, and with no mention of other campaign settings besides the stats for Kender Vampires.
I don't really know how you would handle the transformation rules-wise. I believe my initial idea was something like needing to take a Will save (cummulative DC 1) for each day spent in Ravenloft. Fail three saves in succession and the essence of the Demiplane of Dread seeps into the Kender's very being and irrervercably corrupts them.
Come to think of it, maybe just treat them as automatically having the Innocent feat, and when they lose that they become Afflicted Kender.

I semi-adapted Kender in Races of the Mists II. I believe they were the Stout halflings. I tried to leave them as intact as possible without being too annoying.
Afflicted kender are pretty much halflings, only paranoid ones. They're for the halfling lovers who play Dragonlance and just get irritated by standard kender.
For kender halflings I'd just use the vampire halfling template from Denizens of D___ (possibly added to my netbook
) and simply change the weaknesses to match the ol' 2E version.
