* Although VRGtF has him listed as "Sir Armand Ironhand" and refers to a "current Lord Ironhand", I'm choosing to list him as a Rivtoff as per GazV p42, mostly as "Ironhand" doesn't sound like a particularly Vaasan name.

** Van Richten's Arsenal, p46, refers to an "Archmage Jacktin Tellurian" writing a Transpossession: A Guide to Phenomena. VRGtF has no such person but has both an "Archmage Jacktin Terelleian" and a "Dr. A.R.H. Tellurian." It appears that the VRA reference accidentally combines these two individual names. As the Dr. A.R.H. Tellurian quotes in VRGtF deal with transposing spirits via the magic jar spell, Dr. Tellurian would likely have become interested in fiendish transpossession and looked further into this. Archmage Terelleian's work, however, was merely referencing the usage of magical items to duplicate spells. As such, I'm attributing Transpossession to Dr. A.R.H. Tellurian. If one of the Ravenloft authors (Kargat or Kargatane) wishes to weigh in and attribute it to Archmage Jacktin Terelleian instead, I am open to doing so.

For what its worth, is my concept of the character, Archmage Jacktin Terelleian is a rather famous celebrity lecturer, self-appointedly "bringing magic to the common man," but mostly hob-nobbing with wealthy sponsors and intellectuals and indulging his taste for expensive dinner parties. "Archmage" is a rather over-blown and entirely self-given title; he's actually around level 9 or 10, general wizard. He does, however, write fairly good academic books on magic, but often dumbs them down for his supposed "common man" audience.

Sweet! I'd hoped you (or another author who'd worked with you) would say that, as "Archmage Jacktin Terelleian" is such a cool name. When I referenced the VRGtF originally, I was hoping to find Terelleian vs Tellurian quotes that would justify attributing it to Archmage Terelleian... And ended up conceding defeat and attributing it to Dr. Tellurian.

Very cool idea. I can definitely see that of someone writing a book entitled Wizards, Magic and Magical Items: A Primer for the Serious Scholar and, frankly, the Core needs a writer like that.

And honestly, I've long felt that Ravenloft needs some "normal" celebrities (as most people have to see Van Richten as a conspiracy wonk, what with decrying every Lord as a vampire or lich or whatnot; what'll he say next, that Vilhelm von Aubrecker is a serial killer?). This notion of Archmage Jacktin Terelleian gives a much more accessible celebrity for the Core, so your idea is especially cool.

It's pretty clear that the writers for HoS eased off on the cheap gags a little, by altering the hokey "self-help book" title of the LAtU volume. In addition to that, the book on blood was probably re-titled because the discovery of blood types is dawn-of-the-20th-century science, hence even more anachronistic than Strahd's post-medieval pipe organ.

I agree with Lord Cyc: the newer titles are much better, but the idea of a LAtU series is good for a (brief) laugh.
