<<bounces up and down waving>>

Hi Lost Voices! Hi Rafael!

Does this mean we have a full group again? If so I might just fall over and die from the excitement!

Hi everyone else. I haven't posted in a while because I haven't had anything to say. Maybe now though... :D
"Okay Mark, it's your turn. What do you do?"

"I commit suicide."

Kinketsu's only available if Ciera isn't taking all her toys back, otherwise you've got Anders, if you're up for playing a psionic character.

*Gasp* I think we've got a full party of players!! Quick, everyone, knock on wood!

Just in time for everyone to be brought together, too; I think we've tested the divid-and-conquer strategy enough. Time to start pulling out the big guns!

Hee hee...by the pricking of my thumbs...

Edit: Whoops, meant to include a link to Anders' character sheeton the old site, for Rafael. Also look at the conversation and battle between Anders and Ashkarfor lots of good info.

If you really can't play a psionic character, Rafael, I'll understand; Anders has been the hardest shoe to fill so far, so if you need other options, let me know. Othersise...I'll have players for all the epic PC's!! :D

Welcome Rafael! Do you intend to take over Anders? Did you already take a look at some of the threads over at the other boards?
DeepShadow in a mail wrote:Anders Black, the psion uncarnate/soulknife who works as a freelance stealth agentof sorts. [He was introduced as the doppleganger hunter!] His original character sheet contained a slew of errors that I didn't catch at first due to my inexperience with psionics. Fortunately, we figured it out before much had been revealed, and a new character sheet has been proposed on the old website as part of a discussion with the other players: http://madstepdad.proboards24.com/index ... 987&page=1

That's the "old" board, currently serving as an archive of sorts because a host of problems forced us to go to the "new" Fraternity of Shadows board
[...]
To catch up on things, I'd recommend the "Story So Far" thread on the old board. Unfortunately, this leaves off where the PC's entered Saragoss, and a lot has happened since then. If the 26-page "Umberlee's Belly" thread on the old board is too much for you, let me know and I'll have an assistant bang out a summary (on second thought, I should probably get that done either way).
DS, I hope you don't mind i pasted this text here. If yes let me know.

As for the description of Anders, between his sarcastic witty speaking dog figurine, avatar picture on the old site and job of hunting otherworldly creatures in disguise using weird otherworldy technology/items, he always reminded me of the MIB. I think it was part of the original character concept.

Now where's that deneuralizer...

 Some questions:

1. What is a psionic?

2. How do psionics work?

Never allowed psionics in my campaigns, never played them. Having no books on them, no idea what of them. :)

Still interested on playing one of them. :P ...If you don't mind me playing an epic NPC w/o having a clue of what he is or how is abilities work.

:)

Like a sorcerer, except different...you have psionic powers (which are usually adjudicated to be magical powers with a different name, although you can keep the two totally separate, which strikes me as a headace) with which you can bend spoons, levitate, cause fires, control people's minds, and so forth (depending on what kind of psion you are, you might go in different directions.)

There are four base classes: Psion (more like wizards), psychic warrior (I'd say it's most like monk, although it's essentially a fighter who enhances his bladework with mental powers), soulknife (a guy who uses his mental powers chiefly to generate a magical blade--so, also fighter-esque) and wilder (sorta like a sorcerer, except even more so).

Anders is a psion/soulknife/psion uncarnate, which is kinda like being a wizard/fighter who pops in and out of the ethereal plane at will, except psionic-flavored.
2. How do psionics work?
There's a point system; you have a certain number of points and you spend a certain number of points to activate your powers. Better powers need more points, of course, and you can augment many lower-level powers by pumping more points into them. So it's extremely flexible--as if a sorcerer could cast 10 7th level spells or 100 1st level spells, depending on what he needed that day. It's really kinda cool, and it's all in the SRD, so that will give you the information you have to have. But Mattias is much better with this stuff (that is, psionics) than I am, so you should probably get information from him about the coolest combos and so forth. :)

Strikes me as a bit of a circular description, Nathan. ;)

psionic is a similar word to psychic. It's all about mental powers. A sorceror has magic flowing through his body, his blood, that can alter reality based on his willpower. A psion has mental powers flowing through his mind that can alter reality with the power of thought. Similar, yes. But a different flavor. Psychics, mentalists, telepaths, empaths, telekinetics... Even if their powers are adjudicated similar to magic, they don't do Magic, they have Powers.

Well, fair enough...but the "innate powers" thing makes sorcerer the standard class closest to the basic idea of psionics, don't you think?

Yes--the difference is largely in flavor.

Thank you for the clarification, Nathan and Gonzoron. :)

Well, this will be interesting to play... While I can't see it going for my games, it will certainly be fun to experiment...

 But... Can he? - He's in RL, after all! Or will he basically be a beefed-up mistclaimer (VRGttM)?
:) I had a player in my online campaigns who played one...

I'm willing to offer Kinketsu if the psionics rules are too much to absorb, bear in mind he's built to protect Ciera, and as such is a bit of a combat focused character, he can get from place to place easily, and fight of course, but his real focus is on being hard to incapacitate. He can't be easily drowned, dominated, grappled, and so on. This makes him a great bodyguard, but probably not so much fun to play, he's a bit of a one trick pony that way.

:) Thank you for the offer! - But of course, if you others allow me some *ahem* errors in my roleplaying from time to time, I'll not rob you your PC, but stick with the psionic. :)

My friend thought it needed to be said.

To answer the last question...I don't know how psionics work either so if you mess up I won't notice. :D
