Death: "Thankfully, spirits weren't all that bright at the beginning of time...presuming, of course, that by 'the beginning of time' you mean 'three hundred years ago or so.' Though for some strange reason I have vague thoughts of there being some other creation story that I used to believe before I came to Darkon...wait, I've always been in Darkon, haven't I?"

Dear Azalin: Seriously, how do your Royal Historians keep anything straight in a domain that keeps giving people fake memories?

(Which actually brings me to a serious point: outsider comes to a small town in Darkon, stays too long, and believes he/she's always been there, even going so far as to "adopt" gravestones in the local cemetery as belonging to his/her ancestors. Do the other 642 people in the village also believe it, or do they go, "What d'ya mean, ya lousy furriner! Ya jist moved here a week ago Tuesday"? It raises a few fascinating points concerning the dynamics of small-town insularity on one hand, and on the other hand, when one considers the sheer complexity of rewriting the memories of hundreds, perhaps even thousands of people to adapt for the new circumstances...And is anyone, even Azalin, actually aware of this phenomenon within Darkon? Or people from other domains around the Core who go to see why a loved one is taking so long to come home and find that they don't even remember where "home" is?)

Azalin: Foolish plebeian, my solution is simplicity in itself. History is what I say it is, everyone accepts it, and no one gets knock on the door in the middle of the night. It’s what we call a perfect system.
Guess what? Just for questioning me, now you’re Darkonian. Always have been, in fact. Just like that.
[ Also, people in Darkon do notice that visitors just seem to blend in. It’s what’s called “rediscovering your roots”. No body likes to talk about it though. ]

Dominic, who do you support for President?

Dominic: It doesn't matter actually, soon he or she will be an obedient!

Dear Malocchio, since your mother hates vistani and you hates your mother why don't you decide to become ally to the vistani?

[That is a real qustion, I always had, I know that the vistani have put a curse on Malocchio to prevent him go out of Invidia, but why he never allied with them at the first place, before that?]

Malocchio: Fate. Something about a prophecy... anyway. Really. With Strahd giving them he five-star treatment, SOMEBODY had to whip out the ol' persecution, and if Drakov did it, nobody would notice....

Dear Tristessa,

Will you please, please, PLEASE stop screaming so much? You're upsetting the children.
Go tell the Spartans, thou who passest by,
That here, obedient to their laws, we lie.

Wilfred Godefroy: Yes, it does on occasion, but then I just think back to the bad old days of Ravenloft 2: House on Gryphon Hill, and I realize it's still much better than sharing it with a vampire lord and a lich in the basement.

To Azalin: Whatever happened to Quantarius in the end? Did you two have a falling out, or did he just sort of fade from your (un)life?

Azalin: I think he ran off to become a pokemon trainer. Either that or get married. I keep a far less caredul eye on my friends. After all, keep your friends close but your enemies closer.

Gentleman Caller: How'd that date with the redhead go last week? She was all over you. (You go Playa.)
Do us a favor Luv, Stick yer 'ead in a bucket a kick it!

So, gentlemen, that's how it is. Until Grissome.... resurfaces, I'm the acting president, and I say starting with this... anniversary festival, we run this city into the ground! :D

GC: Fine, until the silly lass tried to paralyze me and lay eggs in my carcass. Really, some ladies just don't know the difference between using a feather and using a chicken....

I quote from King of the Dead:
And [Firan] remembered, without ever having forgotten, that Quantarius had been childless. "My life was not one that could be well shared with a wife," the old sorceror had said dismissively, and Firan had thought no more of it.
So, I guess he became a Pokemon trainer then.

To Rotipher:

S: Je ne connais pas cet roi "Scoubi II". Soyons plus exacte, s'il-te plais.

Dear Vlad: Do you get any sort of weird buzz from having people impaled on stakes around your bedroom? Or does it just keep you up at night?

Vlad: They're really just momentos. Why keep love notes from an old romantic intrest, when you can just keep her corpse prominantly displayed?

Dear Godefroy: Has anyone come trick or treating on Gryphon Hill?

Lord Godefroy: "Now, you're putting the finger on the wound there, lad (figuratively speaking, of course). You would imagine that having a spooky house on top of a hill with lots and lots of ghosts would be the top attraction on the day of the dead, right? Wrong! Kids these days don't seem to have any spirit or respect for holy days anymore! And now I'm stuck with all these candy apples... (sigh)"

Dear Elena Faith-hold: Wanna make out? :P

Vlad: I see an uncanny resemblance to Rob Zombie, and a pair of townsfolk screaming in agony from the top of some poles outside my window.

Dear Easan: How's the weather in Vechor today?

Easan: The weather? There's a terrible up-pour going on at the moment, but the sunset this morning was quite lovely.

Dear Phantom Lover,

Any plans to reclaim your "ideal anonymous dreamy boyfriend" image from that headline-grabbing incubus?

PL: Oh, no need, really. I understand that Isolde is about to staple him the the Ethereal Border with a blessed cold iron spike through his privates. I will, of course, be on hand to comfort his poor, bereaved latest lover through this trying time...

Dear J. Karn: So, are you related to the "jackal-headed priests of the Rotting Gods" of al-Kathos, and if so, are they uppity at the family reunions?
