Watchmen Movie... (really)
Wow...
http://rss.warnerbros.com/watchmen/
Just found this...
I didn't even know they were filming this.
I hope I won't be disappointed! (Even though I always thought it should be a tv series...)

Well, they aren't. From what I've heard already they're minimizing the business about the Black Freighter (though interestingly, said story will be presented as an animated DVD extra!), and I suspect most of the "between-issues" stuff (Hollis' biography, the report on Dr. Manhattan, etc.) will be eliminated or minimally referred to.JinnTolser wrote:The characters look fantastic, but how are they going to fit that whole plot into a two or even three-hour movie?

It is supposed to be set in the 80's.
We'll see.
But the way I look at it: After X-Men (well not the third one) and Spider-Man, there is no excuse to make a bad super-hero movie anymore...

re
you forgot to mention the third Spider Man as well ... seems we should be stopping out superhero series' after the second film - or whenever the original director bails.

I thought the first 2 x-men films were alright, but that the 3rd one stank. The only saving grace was Kelsey Grammer as Beast. Didn't care too much for spiderman, and the new superman film was a joke.Jonathan Winters wrote:It is supposed to be set in the 80's.

I can understand the need to make a series seem more "edgier" and "up to date", but when the characters are changed so much that the old story line is left by the wayside, I think fans end up getting a raw deal. These films shouldn't only cater to newer, younger fans, but to the hardcore veterans as well.
This movie looks interesting, but will reserve judgement until I actually see it. I'd hate to see another great series messed up by greedy Hollywood.

I think the entertainment industry in general, not just Hollywood, tends to take the hardcore fans for granted. They figure those people will buy the product/see the movie/whatever for sure, so they might as well focus on attracting a new crowd and pleasing those people. There are exceptions of course (thankfully), but as a general rule I think that's how they do it.LadySoth wrote:I can understand the need to make a series seem more "edgier" and "up to date", but when the characters are changed so much that the old story line is left by the wayside, I think fans end up getting a raw deal. I'm really hoping that this movie is good. Moore's had too many of his stories utterly pissed on as it is... Though it be a crime to say that movie of V for Vendetta wasn't at least decent, though there were things in it I didn't quite like. I was a fan of LXG, though, and seeing the movie just made me foam at the mouth...
